- Shazam: Darn who sings that song I am hearing over the speakers at the store or what is the name of the band playing on the radio? Never ask yourself again with this app. With the touch of a button the Shazam hears the music playing and quickly tells you artist, album, song titles, album cover and even directs you to where you can download it or buy it and automatically saves it in case you want to come back. Price: Free
- FourSquare: Let all your friends know what your favorite stores are and the world know by becoming mayor of the place. To all those people who call it StalkingSquare, please. You can select who sees where you are so as to not broadcast to the world. Plus, stores have FourSquare specials and deals (I checked into my Whole Foods and they were offering a free gift bag for anyone that checked in which featured free samples of their products). Price: Free
- Google Maps: Not only is it like a GPS for your phone but it also helps you with public transportation schedules. Just zoom in and click on the bus logo or train logo and it tells you when the next bus or train is scheduled to show up AT your stop. No more having to memorize the schedule! Price: Free (usually comes pre-installed on most Android mobile phones)
- GBlocker: Your cell phone carrier says there is nothing you can do but ignore unwanted calls but not so with GBlocker. Put in all the numbers that you don't want to answer and you can choose from going to voice mail or quick answer/hang-up as well as tons of other choices. They even updated it to block text messages as well! Price: $5.73
- Amazon Kindle: Don't feel like spending money on a Kindle or have one but got tired of carrying that around as well as the books? Well you can read all the Kindle books Amazon has to offer for free right on your cell phone. Price: Free
- Ebuddy Messenger: Isn't it annoying to have to jump from one platform to the next when chatting with your friends? You have those on Facebook, some on Gmail chat, others on AIM (Aol Instant Messenger) and then a few on MSN Messenger. Well, get ready to finally talk to them all on one platform. Ebuddy has all of these and more and finally you can chat with all your buddies on your phone from one place. Price: Free
- Catch Notes: This is a notepad application for writing memos, lists, whatever. Ok but doesn't that usually come pre-loaded on your mobile phone? Yes but not like Catch. With Catch you make a profile on Catch.com and then every time you write a new note on your phone it backs it up to your Catch.com profile. No longer having to worry about what happens to these notes when you buy a new phone or break your old one. All your notes will be there waiting for you and you can download back again to your new phone. Price: Free
- Bank of America/Chase/American Express mobile apps: All three have their own mobile applications so that you can bank while on the go. Check your balances, pay bills, do transfers. If you have a different bank from the three I listed above then check to see if they have their own app. Price: Free
