#1: Old Navy

This is my die hard loved it forever and always favorite clothing store. If you know me, then you know my closet is 80% Old Navy. Whenever you see me, chances are my entire outfit came from Old Navy (including shoes and purse).

I will never understand how you can not love this store. Maybe you aren't as obsessed about it as I am but you have to admit they sell cute stuff at great prices. Even at full price, their most expensive items sell for $30 or $40 bucks and let's face it, Old Navy always has a sale or coupons.

Their credit card is also great because they constantly send you rewards to save money on your next shopping trip. Plus, "liking" them on Facebook always score you tons of great coupons.

They sell everything from clothes, jewelry, shoes, purses, you name it! And you can shop for the entire family there: mom, dad, teenagers, little kids, babies. They even sell maternity wear and plus size on their website!

Their website at www.oldnavy.com is also great and you can shop from the other Gap Inc stores (Gap, Banana Republic, Piperlime, Atheleta) all in one convenient cart. And I find that everything is mostly true to size so I rarely have an issue shopping on their website as everything I order always fits fine. Good news is, if you need to return something, you can do so at the store.

Their customer service cannot be beat. I wanted a pair of boots they were selling but they didn't have my size at my local store or online. So the representative checked inventory and called a few stores and found one in Utah that had what I wanted in my size to ship to my local store free of charge!

If you have not been to Old Navy yet then trust me you need to go. Even if you don't love their "look" you can still stock up on basics like tanks, shorts, t-shirts. Plus, I doubt you can resist their cute shoes and accessories.

New York & Company

#2: New York & Company

Got a job interview coming up or just need to look professional and ready to take on the world (without breaking the bank)? Then head over New York & Company because you will leave with an outfit that makes you look like a million bucks while having spent less than $50.

This clothing brand has taken coupons and sales to a whole other level. If you sign up for their emails, they will constantly send you coupons for $30 off $75 or even better. They always have sales, practically everyday really and even if you walk in without a coupon, most likely you will walk out with one to use next time you come back.

New York & Company sells everything you need for the professional working women wardrobe. Slacks, sweater sets, pencil skirts. But they also have casual items like jeans, t-shirts, tanks. You can buy that outfit for the job interview and another for the picnic date with your boyfriend all in one place.

New York & Company has gorgeous accessories, especially their purses which look like high end designer but sell for $40 and under. As well as jewelry, sunglasses and watches plus scarves and winter accessories.

They do sell some shoes but not many. Depending on the season they might have some cute options but are limited. To be honest, I do not shop there for shoes nor have I ever gotten a pair.

Their website at www.nyandcompany.com is user-friendly but it can be hard to tell what a piece really looks like or fits from the site. Most of the time, it looks much nicer in person at the store. I usually rather shop at their store than online.

JCPenney
JCPenney

#3: JCPenney

I know what you are thinking, ugh middle America department store that caters more to my mother or grandmother than me.

But think again! JCPenney is not the same store we remember from the 1980s. It has seriously changed and become a major player in the fashion game. Have you entered into one lately? If you haven't, do so and you will see what I mean.

Where else can you get a pair of Levi jeans for under $40? JCPenney now even has Sephora makeup in their stores!

The best part of it being a department store is that they have all different designers, all different sizes, clothes, shoes, everything. And when you are done you can also get bath sheets, new luggage and outdoor patio furniture.

JCPenney always has sales and gives coupons for filling out surveys or when you spend to come back and spend more. I never go to JCPenney without a coupon.

Their website at www.jcpenney.com is really easy to navigate and best part is that they have free site to store shipping. So you can pick up your stuff at your local JCPenney and not pay a dime in shipping costs.

Ann Taylor Loft
Ann Taylor Loft

#4: Ann Taylor Loft

Ann Taylor Loft is the trendy, younger version of Ann Taylor. And, they don't like to say this, cheaper version. But they got some seriously cute stuff.

Compared to the other stores I mentioned, this one is the most expensive. However, if you have a date coming up with that really cute guy from work or some other casual social occasion where you really want to "wow" everybody, then Ann Taylor Loft is the place to go.

Sure they have casual items like jeans and t-shirts but even those look fancy. Somehow, everything in the store makes you look classy and put together but in a trendy 2011 way not a 1950 Stepford wife way.

They do have decent sales and their clearance rack is great. For you shorter girls, they also have an entire petite section and the whole store carries sizes 0-16.

You can also order from their website at www.anntaylorloft.com

Payless ShoeSource
Payless ShoeSource

#5: Payless Shoes

Ok so technically this is not a clothing store but they sell something even better: SHOES!

Tons of shoes in all different styles, colors, design all for a low price.

And who can beat BOGO (buy 1 pair get 2nd pair half price)?

Payless years ago go a bad rep and was considered cheap but not anymore. They have designer shoes now and they are even selling purses, jewelry and make up.

Check out their jewelry when you are done grabbing some shoes, their fashion jewelry is super cute and trendy but low priced. And BOGO sales apply to everything in store, not just shoes.

They also have free shipping site to store so buy shoes at www.payless.com as well!

Which is your favorite store?

  • Old Navy
  • New York & Company
  • JCPenney
  • Ann Taylor Loft
  • Payless ShoeSource
  • None, I hate all of these!

Ah, we are so much alike! I wish there was a JC Penney closer to where I live. I do like a lot of their clothes. I am glad someone else wants to talk about how awesome Payless is now. They've really stepped it up with cute shoes and bags. They even sell bath products now! Great hub!

Yes, people need to stop giving Payless such a bad rep, it's a completely different store now than it was 10 years ago. And I live for BOGO lol. Thanks for reading!
